In 2003, I was able to travel to Afghanistan to help a non-government organization with humanitarian efforts of setting up an independent media in Afghanistan. My job had many titles. I was a lead instructor, photo editor and assistant director of Aina Photojournalism Institute, a school I helped to create. I worked along side two fantastic National Geographic Photographers Manoocher and Reza Deghati. This site was one of the projects that I completed in my year long tenure. It featured the first batch of Afghan photojournalists that we taught that have since won several awards for their work including the Pulitzer Prize.
